Simple carburetor working, diagram and limitations

A carburetor American English [1] or carburettor British English [2] [3] is a device that mixes air and fuel for internal combustion engines in an appropriate air—fuel ratio for combustion. The term is sometimes colloquially shortened to carb in the UK and North America or to carby in Australia. Fuel injection technology has largely supplanted carburetors in the automotive and, to a lesser extent, aviation industries. Carburetors are still common in small engines for lawn mowers , rototillers , and other equipment. The word carburetor comes from the French carbure meaning " carbide ".

Carburetor , also spelled carburettor , device for supplying a spark-ignition engine with a mixture of fuel and air. Components of carburetors usually include a storage chamber for liquid fuel, a choke, an idling or slow-running jet, a main jet, a venturi-shaped air-flow restriction, and an accelerator pump. The quantity of fuel in the storage chamber is controlled by a valve actuated by a float. The choke, a butterfly valve, reduces the intake of air and allows a fuel-rich charge to be drawn into the cylinders when a cold engine is started. As the engine warms up, the choke is gradually opened either by hand or automatically by heat- and engine-speed-responsive controllers. The fuel flows out of the idling jet into the intake air as a result of reduced pressure near the partially closed throttle valve.

July 25, Automobile Leave a comment. Internal combustion engines mix fuel right, do you know this mixture takes place in the carburetor. Well, the component is often called the heart of an automobile engine but of old model version. New automobiles now use fuel injection for the same process. Nevertheless, the science secret behind most transportation either by land, sea, or sky is that fuel is turned into power.
