Science and Technology of Materials is the official journal of SPM, the Portuguese Society of Materials Sociedade Portuguesa de Materiais , providing a forum for publishing peer-reviewed papers related to both fundamentals of materials science and technological application of engineering materials. The scope of the journal covers a wide range of topics in materials science that are of interest to the SPM, encompassing electrochemistry, corrosion and protection of materials, extractive metallurgy and recycling, electronic and optoelectronic materials, biomaterials, forest materials, polymeric and composite materials, foundry, heat treatment and surface engineering, tribology, and fracture. To understand the enhancing effect and fiber-reinforced mechanism of composite fibers reinforced cement concrete, the influences of composite fibers on micro-cracks and the distribution of composite fibers were evaluated by optical electron micrometer OEM and scanning electron microscope SEM. Three kinds of fiber, such as polyacrylonitrile-based carbon fiber, basalt fiber, and glass fiber, were used in the composite fibers reinforced cement concrete. The composite fibers could form a stable structure in concrete after the liquid-phase coupling treatment, gas-liquid double-effect treatment, and inert atmosphere drying.

This journal is designed to reflect current developments and advances being made in the general field of cement-concrete composites technology and in the production, use, and performance of cement-based construction materials. The word cement is interpreted in a wide sense, including not only Portland cement but also blended cements and other binding materials. In addition to novel aspects of conventional concrete materials, the journal covers a wide range of composite materials such as fiber-reinforced cement composites, polymer cement composites, polymer impregnated composites, ferrocement, and cement composites containing special aggregate inclusions or waste materials. Provided there is sufficient linkage to properties defined at the material scale, papers concerning the behavior of structural components and systems, in situ performance, and field studies will also be accepted for review, as well as those concerning the repair and maintenance, serviceability behavior, and sustainability of structures made with these materials. The journal has within the above context several specific objectives. It is the intention of the journal to also publish special issues devoted to topics of current or emerging interest.
